Chicago House AC Releases Statement In Response To Yesterday’s Gun Violence In Chicago
CHICAGO, IL (November 10th, 2021) - Following a shooting in Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood on Tuesday that involved My Block, My Hood, My City’s founder, Jahmal Cole, Chicago House AC expressed their support of M3’s work in the Chicago community.
In a statement released by My Block, My Hood, My City via social media on Tuesday, November 9th, M3 shared that “[their] founder, Jahmal Cole, was present during the shooting, and thankfully, he has not been seriously harmed. The work that My Block My Hood My City is an integral part of a long-term solution to prevent these situations from happening (sic). The organization is committed to continuing our ongoing work and thank everyone for their support as we strive to work for this great city.”
Chicago House AC released a statement on Wednesday in support of M3 and their work in the Chicago community:
This upcoming Saturday, November 13th, Chicago House AC will show it’s support for My Block, My Hood, My City by wearing their alternate kit, which features the community organization’s logo across the front of the jersey. We are committed to supporting the work of our community partners and will use our resources to shed light on M3’s mission to help build a better world, one block at a time.
“When we take the pitch this Saturday, our team will wear M3’s logo on our chest with pride, because when players join this club, they know that our work goes beyond the pitch and into the community,” says Chicago House AC Head Coach and Technical Director, CJ Brown.
Through the end of the year, 100% of proceeds from Chicago House AC’s M3 Nike Challenger jerseys sales will be donated to My Block, My Hood, My City.
“Showing up for our partners like M3 is the foundation of who we are, and what we do,” says Chicago House AC Managing Partner, President and CEO, Peter Wilt. “As a city, and as a community, we all need to work together to do our part in combating systemic violence and encouraging lasting change.”
